I hold a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Bern, Switzerland, and have been a member in good standing of the College of Psychologists of Ontario since 1998. In my 30+ years as a therapist, I have worked in a number of outpatient settings, including for the past 19 years in the Child and Family Clinic at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario.
The focus of my clinical practice has been primarily on adolescents, young adults and their families. Presenting issues I regularly work with include depression, anxiety, self-harm, trauma, self-esteem, body image, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, as well as family relationships and parenting.
I draw flexibly on a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed treatment and psychodynamic approaches.
As a therapist, I am passionate about restoring hope in people and enabling them to reconnect with their inner strength, resourcefulness and resilience. I am deeply committed to creating healing relationships in my work and elsewhere.
In my personal life I have been involved for 30 years with Community Building according to the model developed by Dr. M.Scott Peck, which has enhanced my ability to listen deeply, build healthy relationships, deal with conflict and differences constructively and approach everyone I encounter with profound respect and curiosity.
I am excited to bring my experience and passion to Dr. Guindon’s practice.
